Property Estimate Analysis for Examiners

Who Should Attend

This one-week class is designed for the claims examiner who analyzes and authorizes limited value dwelling damage estimate payments. Hands-on limited value estimating and review of pre-written estimates are performed on damage in the "Vale House" using automated estimating systems.

Prerequisite

Attendess must be capable of operating Windows-based programs. Sponsors will need to indicate program selection at the time of Registration

Course Content

The course focuses on construction terminology and basic estimating mathematics. Estimates are dissected trade-by-trade: carpentry, roofing, paint, flooring, etc... Methods of checking measurements and how to identify errors in both automated and written estimates are used to practice what is learned in lecture and workshops.

Each student learns how to scope damages and reviews and prepares several limited-value estimates. The estimating exercises include commonly damaged interior and exterior finishes of limited scope.

Estimating skills are practiced and applied to real-life damages found in the "Vale House."

Course Benefits

Successfully completed, this course will equip students with enough basic knowledge to analyze damage estimates for scope and pricing components. They will be capable of producing small, limited-loss estimates and be confident in discussing damage repairs with contractors and homeowners.
